The Rule
The house holds three virtues, and they order the range.
Measure is right proportion — the amount a thing warrants, and no more. In practice it makes restraint the default and addition the exception.
Observance is attentive regard, which is already a form of honouring. In practice it insists the regard be marked, since a practice with no marking has no memory.
Solemnity is reverence given its full form. In practice it is what earns the feast: only a day held grave can be celebrated gladly.
